LILA LUE YOGA
What is LILA?
Lila is a Sanskit word that can approximately be translated as play! As Stephen Nachmanovitch elaborates in his book Free Play: Improvisation in Life and Art, lila "means play, richer than our word, it means divine play, the play of creation, destruction, and re-creation, the folding and unfolding of the cosmos. Lila, free and deep, is both the delight and enjoyment of this moment, and the play of God. It also means love."
The practice of yoga is not limited to the postures. It is truly a way of being that invites us to live in the present and accept what is. Yoga provides a beautiful opportunity to explore ourselves on a deeper level through a lens of compassionate non-judgement. I have found that approaching a practice in the spirit of lila, can be a wonderful and accessible way to cultivate a connection with these wisdom teachings that yoga offers.
What is LUE?
Lue is half my middle name and an occasionally used alias. If you Google LUE, you'll find that it is an acronym for Life, the Universe and Everything. Yoga, meaning unity, seeks to have a broader impact on life, the universe and every being as demonstrated by the Sanskrit mantra: Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu. Translation: May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
